U4N Bully Survival Guide: Managing Close-Range Pressure In ARC Raiders

The Bully is coming to ARC Raiders with the Frozen Trail update on October 8, 2026, bringing an enemy that puts much more pressure on players who normally prefer to fight from a distance. This four-legged ARC machine is designed to chase Raiders across different terrain instead of waiting for them to make the first move. Players preparing their ARC Raiders BluePrints should also prepare for a combat style where movement and timing matter as much as damage output.

What makes the Bully especially challenging is the combination of aggressive movement and dynamic protection. Its core is surrounded by a shield while it moves, but the shield opens when the machine stops to attack. That creates a short opportunity for Raiders to deal heavy damage before retreating. Understanding this interaction with ARC Raiders BluePrints and normal combat equipment can help players approach the new enemy with a clearer plan.

The Bully Wants You To Move

The Bully's main purpose is to disrupt passive positioning. If a squad finds a comfortable location and tries to stay there, the machine will continue moving toward them.

Its physics-driven legs allow it to navigate difficult terrain, which means players cannot always rely on natural elevation or awkward surfaces to stop its advance.

This makes the surrounding environment important from the beginning of an encounter. Before committing to a fight, look for solid cover and possible routes between different defensive positions.

Open ground should be treated carefully. Even if the Bully is initially far away, it can use that distance to build momentum while the squad is trying to decide where to go.

Learn When To Attack

The shield around the Bully's core changes the normal damage cycle. Players may see the machine clearly but still have limited access to its vulnerable area.

The best opportunity appears when the Bully stops to perform an attack. During this action, the shield opens and exposes the core for a brief period.

This is when Raiders should commit their strongest damage.

The idea is simple: stay protected while the Bully approaches, wait for the attack animation, step out during the opening, and then return to cover. Trying to maintain constant damage can leave players exposed for much longer than necessary.

Once the timing becomes familiar, the fight starts to feel more predictable.

Choose Cover Carefully

Not every piece of cover has the same value against the Bully. A small object may block one attack but still leave the squad vulnerable to the machine's continued approach.

Large environmental obstacles are more useful because they can completely break line of sight. They also give players a chance to reset their position before the next attack.

Try to keep at least one additional route available. If the Bully pushes into your current location, you do not want the entire squad to discover that there is nowhere else to go.

This is especially important when cluster grenades are involved. If the machine uses them to force players out of cover, having another defensive position nearby can prevent the squad from being caught in the open.

Tether Tools Add Another Option

The Frozen Trail update introduces tether-based gadgets and grappling hooks that may offer creative ways to deal with the Bully's physical movement.

Because the machine relies on its legs to move and climb, disrupting that movement can provide a short window for players to reposition. A well-timed tether could help create space during an aggressive rush.

These gadgets are most useful when they support movement rather than replace it. If the Bully is already close, use the opportunity created by the disruption to reach better cover or establish a new angle.

Players should experiment with the timing because the value of these tools depends heavily on when they are used.

Focus On High-Burst Damage

The Bully's short attack windows make high-burst weapons worth considering. Weapons with strong ARC penetration can help Raiders make the most of the moments when the core is exposed.

The Hullcracker is a practical example for this kind of encounter. Its explosive damage can be concentrated into the vulnerable period, allowing players to attack without spending too much time standing in front of the machine.

A squad does not necessarily need identical loadouts, though. Different players can bring equipment that supports damage, positioning, or movement. What matters most is that the team understands how to combine those tools when the Bully begins its attack.

Keep Squad Movement Flexible

A coordinated squad can make the Bully easier to manage by avoiding one shared position. If all players stand behind the same obstacle, a single push from the machine can disrupt the entire team.

Instead, maintain enough separation for each player to move independently while still supporting the group. One Raider can draw the Bully toward cover while another prepares to attack during the shield opening.

Communication also helps prevent unnecessary panic. The machine's aggressive movement can make players react too quickly, but rushing into open ground is often worse than waiting for the right moment.

Learn The Pattern Before Taking Risks

The Bully is meant to make Raiders rethink how they handle close-range pressure. It rewards players who understand its attack cycle and punishes those who remain exposed for too long.

Once you learn to recognize the charge, find reliable cover, wait for the shield to open, and use burst damage during the attack animation, the encounter becomes easier to read. Tether tools can then add another layer of control when the machine gets too close.

Preparation outside the encounter can also give players more flexibility when building their preferred loadout. U4N can be part of that preparation, allowing players to arrange useful resources before spending time learning the new enemy's behavior.

For players planning their resources before Frozen Trail, ARC Raiders Coins can also be used as part of their wider preparation strategy.
